September Food Distribution Impact in San Diego
The PSCDC San Diego team has a bustling food distribution schedule in September. Not including the additional bread distributions that some of our coordinators provide, the San Diego team plan to host a total of thirteen Farmer's Markets at ten different properties.
The donated food supplies distributed during the Farmer's Market come from our local partner, Feeding San Diego. They provided canned or dry goods, like pasta and canned vegetables, and fresh produce such as tomatoes, potatoes, squashes, and more. With the help of some volunteers from the San Diego Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (SD PACE), our Coordinators distribute the food supplies amongst attending residents.
The impact of September's food distributions:
Fairbanks Common: 20 households, 45 residents
Fairbanks Ridge: 83 households, 250 residents
Fairbanks Square: 64 households, 155 residents
Fairbanks Terrace: 74 households, 157 residents
Iris: 10 households, 21 residents
Seabreeze Farms: 8 households, 14 residents
Torrey Highlands: 28 households, 86 residents
Versa at Civita: 105 households, 144 residents
Villa Andalucia: 17 households, 37 residents
Villa Serena: 43 households, 51 residents
Westminster Manor: 75 households, 81 residents
Total number of households: 527 households
Total number of residents: 1041 residents
Our improved service guidelines have taken place during Farmer's Markets. Having residents' temperatures recorded is required before they can participate in an indoor Farmer's Market. Furthermore, Coordinators and SD PACE volunteers have supplies already arranged to facilitate faster distribution and keeping the number of individuals in a room to a minimum. We always appreciate the residents' cooperation in keeping our communities as safe as possible and following the appropriate safety precautions!
