Celebrating Mother's Day at Lakeside Apartments in San Leandro
Last year, it was difficult for everyone to not see their loved ones, especially during Mother's Day. Mother's Day is a time for Lakeside residents to gather every year to celebrate the important women in their lives with a community brunch. Unfortunately the annual celebration last year had to be canceled to keep residents safe during the self-quarantine. So, for this year, PSCDC Resident Services Coordinator Haydee Pelayo Nuño got a little more creative to celebrate the community's mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and sisters!
Haydee surprised the community's mothers with 25 goodie bags filled with chocolates, nail polish for some self-care, and flowers. Jenny Quintero from Xfinity Community and Diane Cach from the local San Leandro Costco supported and donated to make the goodie bags possible. Residents stopped by the homework club to pick up their gifts while practicing safe social distancing, wearing face masks, and using hand sanitizer.
With summer almost upon us, Haydee is looking to continue hosting community events. With a community-first approach, Haydee will be providing more services, resources, and events as we prepare to relaunch our resident services. Some of Lakeside's summer events include summer camps, reading logs, and the highly anticipated National Night Out. This summer will have a focus on getting younger residents to read with reading camp and reading logs! Residents will keep track of their progress with reading logs and be rewarded at the end of summer.
Currently, PSCDC is reviewing and preparing events that follow the updated safety regulations, and we are hoping to provide as much value to all our communities across California!
